Iran To Celebrate UNESCO Registration Of Golestan Palace

Tehran, July 6, IRNA – Iran’s Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization plans to celebrate the registration of Golestan Palace by UNESCO as world heritage in a ceremony to be attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here in Tehran on July 7. Golestan Palace located in Tehran was enlisted as world heritage in UNESCO’s list of international cultural heritage at the 37th annual meeting of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee in late June. President Ahmadinejad, head of the Cultural and Tourism Organization Mohammad Sharif Malekzadeh and other senior Iranian officials will attend the special ceremony to celebrate the Golestan Palace’s enlistment on July 7. Iran has 16 registered national cultural heritage works at UNESCO, including Chaghazanbil, Persepolis, Pasargad, Takht-e Soleiman, Bam and its cultural ambiance, Soltanieh dome, Bisotoun inscription, Shoushtar aquatic structures, Armenians churches, Tabriz historical bazaar, Sheikh Safieddin Ardebili dome, Naqsh-e Jahan square, Isfahan grand mosque, Gonbad-e Kavous tower, Persian gardens complex and Golestan palace./end
