Iran, China stress expansion of defense cooperation

Tehran, May 5, IRNA – Iranian and Chinese defense ministers Monday in Beijing stressed expansion of mutual defense cooperation. The two ministers met following the official reception for Iranˈs Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan by his Chinese counterpart. During the meeting, the two reviewed mutual ties and discussed issues of mutual interests in the region and the world. Dehqan lauded ancient and amicable relations between the two nations, saying Iran-China cooperation is full of instances of joint work in cultural, economic, political, industrial and technological areas. The Iranian minister also noted that the ancient Silk Road which stood as the symbol of cooperation between the two countries has to be improved to meet the needs of the current century. The upcoming visit to Beijing of President Hassan Rouhani is an indication to the will of the two countriesˈ leaders to further boost bilateral ties. end
