Iran Conditionally Agrees With Resumption of Bahrain Flights

Shiraz, Oct 22, IRNA – Head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Hamid Reza Pahlevani said that Iran agrees with resumption of direct flights between Tehran and Manama and vice versa on the condition that Bahrain reciprocates. “We are still waiting for a response from the Bahraini officials,” Captain Pahlevani told reporters at Jahrom (in Fars province) airport. In September, Officials of Bahrain’s Gulf Air had voiced their willingness for resuming flights to Iran after the airline’s flights were halted in Marc h 2011. Gulf Air has also halted its flights to Iraq in September concurrent with discontinuing the flights to Iran. Although the Bahraini airline had attributed halting flights to operational reasons, but the analysts said that the move was due to the anti-government rallies and uprisings in Bahrain./end
