Iran Culture Minister Praises Turkmen Poet

Kalale, Golestan province, May 19, IRNA – Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance called the Iranian Turkmen poet Makhtoumqoli Feraghi as a role model for young poets. Seyed Mohammad Hosseini made the comment in a speech, Friday, in the venue of Makhtoumqoli tomb in Aq-Toqa village close to the northeastern border city of Marave Tappeh on the occasion of the poet's 279th birth anniversary. One of the poet's outstanding characteristics was his influence on people, Hosseini noted adding that Makhtoumqoli was a role model for unity among Muslims. The poet suffered a lot to develop authentic culture of Islam, Hosseini said. Senior officials and cultural and art scholars from Turkmenistan Republic as well as Golestan governor general and a number of provincial officials and a vast group of people who loved the Iranian Turkmen ethnic poet were present. His poems are full of social, humanitarian, religious and mystic meanings./end
