Iran derides Pompeo, saying US should change, not Iran

Tehran, April 17, IRNA – Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abbas Mousavi said on Wednesday that the international community staged widespread objection to the US breach of international law requiring White House to change its nature, not Iran. 'Fortunately, as time passes, the US current regime make their intentions clearer more than their predecessors,' said Mousavi in reaction to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, saying they are trying to make Iran's government change its nature. Mousavi said now they confess that they attempted to change the nature of the Islamic Republic of Iran rather than change behavior, but that's the White House that should change, not Iran. He added that the international outcry over wrongful acts of Trump White House has shaped a universal demand that the nature of the US regime must change. Mousavi said that utilizing economic terrorism and bullying, the US has taken the world trade hostage and threatens the governments to follow US' unlawful demands and policies. It also exports billions of dollars of lethal weapons to the Middle East for the massacre of the civilians there and in the Persian Gulf region. 'The US regime supports war criminals and murderers of journalists and prevents international justice to be administered, doesn’t respect international demand to protect the environment, respect human rights, and international values and laws. they threaten the international order and security and stability on a daily basis,' he said. Mike Pompeo said in Texas A&M University on Monday that the US is 'exerting maximum pressure to change the very nature of the Islamic Republic of Iran to make sure that that Tehran simply behaves like a normal country.'
