Iran-Egypt-Switzerland To Boost Environmental Co-op

Tehran, May 11, IRNA – Head of Iranˈs Department of Environment Mohammad Javad Mohammadizadeh said Saturday that Iran is to boost environmental cooperation with Egypt and Switzerland. He made the remarks on the sidelines of an international conference on environment held in Geneva, Switzerland, on May 9-10. The conference was participated by environment ministers and representatives of 150 world countries including Iran, Egypt and Switzerland. On the sidelines of the conference, Mohammadizadeh held separate meetings with Environment Minister of Switzerland Doris Leuthard and his counterpart from Egypt Khaled Fahmy. In his talks with Leuthard, the Iranian official called for promotion of bilateral cooperation between developed and developing countries in various environmental fields. The Swiss minister said, in return, that all countries should try not to repeat their past mistakes in the field of environment in order to protect the Earth. Meanwhile, in his meeting with the Egyptian minister, the two agreed to sign a letter of understanding on environmental cooperation in a near future. To that end, Fahmy said an Egyptian delegation would visit Iran soon./end
