Iran exports over 8 million metric tons of cement in five months

Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept.7 By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran exported over eight million metric tons of cement in the first five months of the current year. Abdolreza Sheikhan, secretary of Iran's Cement Industry Employers Association said 981,605 metric tons of cement were exported in the fifth calendar month (July 23-August 22), Iran's IRIB reported on September 7. Iran exported 18 million metric tons of cement in the last Iranian year (ended March 20). Iran has successfully started to use railroads to export cement to neighboring and Central Asian countries. The IRNA News Agency reported on June 23 that Iran currently exports cement to 24 countries including Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Georgia, Oman, India, and China. Seven countries out of the mentioned 24 account for 97 percent of Iran's total cement exports.
