Iran Flag Bearer Of Anti-narcotics Campaign: Official

Tehran, Aug 19, IRNA – An official with Irans Drug Conrol Headquarters said on Sunday that considering Irans fight against drug trafficking, the world now regards Iran as the flag bearer of anti-narcotics campaign. Brigadier Alireza Akbarshahi said that Iran has taken big steps to safeguard physical and psychological security of people not only within its national borders but also at the international level. Iran's measures have been so effective that drug dealers have been forced to change their transit path, he said. He added that discovering over 30 tons of drugs within two weeks in a small region in Sistan and Balouchestan province last year carried the message that Iran's borders are no longer safe for drug dealers. Irans measures to fight drug trafficking has made international bodies such as the United Nations thank the country, Akbarshahi said, adding that even Irans enemies have had to acknowledge the efforts made by Iran in this regard./end
