Iran-Georgia hold joint consular commission meeting

Baku, Feb 24, IRNA – The 14th joint consular commission of Iran and Georgia was held in Tbilisi, Georgia on Saturday. The meeting was co-chaired by Director of Iran Foreign Ministry for Consular Affairs Ali Asghar Mohammadi and his Georgian counterpart Gregory Tabatadze. During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral consular affairs such as the importance of implementing a visa waiver agreement between Iran and Georgia, facilitating Iranian citizens' commute in Georgia and following up problems of Iranian nationals. Accelerating prisoners' information to embassies of both countries, reviewing prisoners swap agreement, judicial assistance in criminal matters and extradition of criminals, developing cooperation between Iran and Georgian police in fighting narcotics and systematic crimes and following up signing an MoU on security affairs were on the agenda of the meeting. Iranian delegation also visited Adjara consular region, held talks with local officials and Iranian nationals in Batumi. Meanwhile, Iran officials paid a visit to Sarpi and Sadakhlo border points to review the measures taken by border guards and to hold talks with border officials on Iranian nationals' problems while passing borders. 9376**1771 Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
