Iran to hold 9th Persian painting biennial

Tehran, Nov 16, IRNA – Iran’s Saba artistic-cultural institute will host the 9th Persian painting biennial in the Iranian calendar month of Azar (Nov.22-Dec. 21). The cultural center will hold the event presenting different kinds of Persian paintings namely miniatures, Gol-o-Morq (flower and bird), Tazhib (Illumination), Siah-Qalam (lit. ‘black pen’, a term referring to both the genre of paintings or drawings done in pen and ink) as well as Tasheer. The biennial’s poster is designed by Iman Zargari Samani. Over 200 works will be displayed at the event’s competition section which are chosen by noted figures including Reza Yasavoli, Yousef Husseini, Rahim Charkhi, Mohammad Reza Honarvar and Hussein Esmati. The biennial will include other programs as well; a showcase of Persian paintings by masters in the non-competition section, scientific conferences, specialized workshops and honoring the field’s veterans./end
