Iran to host 1st Environmental Book of the Year Award

Tehran, Nov 15, IRNA – Iran will hold the first Festival of Environmental Book of the Year Award on Nov. 16, said an official. Mohammad Darvish Director General of Education and Public Participation of the Department of Environment (DOE) added that the ceremony will be attended by Vice-President and Head of the DOE Masoomeh Ebtekar, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati as well as Senior MP Gholam-Ali Haddad Adel. “A total of 300 books have been submitted to the festival’s secretariat so far, of which 250 were approved by the jury’. The works are written in 99 specialized fields, some related to children and young adults as well as provinces,” he noted. “The festival will award 23 selected works,” Darvish said. DOE intends to hold the event concurrent with the Book Week Festival in Iran, Nov. 15-21. The event will also honor noted environmental figures and publishers as well as writers who have penned lasting works in the field, Darvish said./end
