Iran hosts Book Week

Tehran, Nov 16, IRNA – The 22nd edition of the Book Week of Iran is being held across the country, with an aim to develop and promote books and book-reading. “Running for a week, which started Nov.15, over 200 institutes and organizations are cooperating and participating in the event,” said the secretary of the Book Week on Saturday. “The week is a nationwide cultural event. The event is underway with the motto ‘Promoting books, promoting hope’”, Barzin Zarghami added. “Since the week is synchronized with the Holy month of Moharram, the best related poetry, book, screenplay, publisher, designer and illustrator will be chosen. Moreover a competition will be held on Ashura and Moharram,” he noted. The Book Week of Iran is held annually and starts on the death anniversary of late Allamah Mohammad Hossain Tabatabai, one of the greatest and the most original thinkers of the contemporary Muslim world./end
