Iran Navy Saves Philippine Merchant Ship From Pirates At Oman Sea

Tehran, May 21, IRNA – Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran saved a Philippine merchant ship with 23 crew on board from pirates at the Oman Sea. Ferrying in the international waters, an Iranian naval ship secured release of the Philippines Rosita merchant ship destined to Qatar from India. The Iranian 'warship engaged with the pirates forcing them to release Rosita merchant ship. The pirates escaped the scene afterwards. Iranian Navy in various operations have saved many foreign merchant ships from pirates this year. Iran is advocate of free navigation in the international waters for merchant ships and oil tankers./end
