Iran-P5+1 agreement has understanding on possible withdrawal of nuclear stockpiles to Russia - Ryabkov

LAUSANNE, April 3. /TASS/. The framework agreement between Iran and the P5+1 group of international mediators has an understanding on possible withdrawal of nuclear stockpiles to Russia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Thursday. He stressed that the current agreement with Iran on nuclear fuel supplies to Iran’s nuclear power plants, including the Bushehr NPP, and on disposal of nuclear waste remained in force. During the talks between Iran and the P5+1 group /the five members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany/, Russia suggested a larger part of Iran’s nuclear stockpiles, including enriched uranium, be taken out of the country. This initiatives was considered as an element of limiting Teheran’s nuclear programme. "It is an extremely difficult problem," Ryabkov admitted. "We are ready to consider it." "There is understanding on such possibility in the context of efforts to find solutions on parameters of the future agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme," he underscored. Read more
