Iran parliament to discuss new budget bill mid-February

Tehran, Jan 1, IRNA – Lawmakers in Iran's Majlis (Parliament) are expected to start brainstorming the county's next year budget bill in mid-February, the Presiding Board of Majlis said on Tuesday. Until then, the specialized commissions and the Integration Commission will be working on the budget bill, it said. Iran's President Hassan Rouhani presented the budget bill for the next Iranian calendar year (starting March 21, 2019) to Majlis on December 25, 2018. The specialized commissions will have to work on the budget bill for 15 days and report the results to the Integration Commission. The latter will have 15 days to report the results to the lawmakers. The 15-day period can be prolonged for another 15 days, if need be. Then Majlis will review the budget bill in an open session. Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
