Iran quits attending 74th Frankfurt Int’l Book Fair 2022

Tehran, IRNA - Iran's House of ‎Book and Literature while protesting the unprofessional behavior of officials at the 74th Frankfurt International Book Fair, quitted attending the exhibition. The officials of the 74th Frankfurt International Book Fair sent a letter declaring their apparent interference in Iran's internal affairs and declaring their inability to provide security for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s national stand and the Iranian participating team at the exhibition, without prior notice, they moved the stand of Islamic republic of Iran from the main hall to one of the sub-halls with limited public access. Meanwhile, the German Embassy in Tehran, despite previous promises and in a coordinated move with officials of the Frankfurt exhibition, delayed issuing visas for the Iranian expeditionary group. Iran's House of ‎Book and Literature, as the host of the stand of the Islamic Republic of Iran, officially has quitted attending the 74th Frankfurt International Book Fair by emphasizing that the new location is not in the dignity of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In the past year, Iran's national stand was established in an area of 40 square meters and displayed over 400 books in the event on a variety of subjects such as Iranology, contemporary literature, Sacred Defense literature and the Islamic Revolution, Islamic studies, humanities, illustrated fiction books for children and young adults, environment, arts, poetry, linguistics and contemporary Iranian art.
