Iran Red Crescent Capabilities Unique Worldwide

Arak, May 18, IRNA -- Secretary General of Iranian Red Crescent Society Mohammad Abbasi said here Thursday that capabilities of Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran are unique in the world. Abbasi made the comment Thursday evening at a ceremony making the beginning of a training course for 10,000 Relief and Rescue RCS forces in Arak, adding, ˈThis society, as a non-governmental organization (NGO) has outstanding relief and rescue capabilities.ˈ He, meanwhile, noted that the Red Crescent Society is a foundation free from political tendencies, saying, ˈWe pursue our humanitarian activities in Iran and abroad free from political tendencies.ˈ Abbasi noted that humanitarian concerns are the only matter that the RCS has in mind, adding, ˈThe duty of the Red Crescent Society is rushing to assist the disaster-hit individual regardless of sex, race, religion and ethnicity concerns.ˈ He pointed out that the Red Crescent forces have managed to decrease the time for attending the disaster hit regions and are constantly trying to increase the quality and quantity of their offered services to victims. The secretary general of the Iranian Red Crescent emphasized that the positive effect of the increased knowledge of the individuals in the society over decreasing the damages of the natural disasters is noticeable, arguing, ˈThe program for training 10,000 RCS Rescue and Relief forces is partly focused on increasing the Central province residentsˈ general knowledge in encountering the hazards of natural disasters.ˈ The program for training 10,000 RCS Rescue and Relief forces is launched in collaboration between the Iranian RCS and the Central Province Applied Sciences University. The 35-hour program is titled, ˈEach Family A Rescue Worker.ˈ/end
