Iran registered 140 patents in US: Government

Orumiyeh, Oct 17, IRNA – Iran has registered 140 patents in the United States so far, said Sourena Sattari, Iranian Vice President for Scientific and Technological Affairs. Fifty of the patents were registered during the last Iranian year (beginning on March 21), Sattari said during a meeting with the elites and university presidents in Iran’s northwestern Province of Western Azarbaijan on Tuesday evening. “It is expected that the figure reach 200 patents by the end of the current Iranian year, comparable to that of Turkey,” he added. Saying that supporting elites is among the top priorities of the government, he added, “The government would afford all the registration costs.” He urged university professors to register their contributions as patents rather than publishing them as articles. Sattari stressed that the country’s development largely depends on elites, and failure to pay enough attention to them would disrupt the development process in the country.
