Iran rescue teams save foreign ship’s crew

Bandar Abbas, April 7, IRNA – Iranian maritime search and rescue teams saved lives of 16 crew members of a foreign ship in the Persian Gulf in south Iran, director general of Ports and Maritime organization of Hormuzgan Province announced on Sunday. Two rescue vessels were dispatched to the scene soon after an emergency situation was announced when ship collision occurred in Strait of Hormuz in south of Iran, Allah Morad Afifipour told reporters. The two ships that collided are named ROYAL ARSENAL and GAS INFINITY, Afifipour said. All the crew members transferred to the rescue ship are healthy and well, the official noted. The Strait of Hormuz at the mouth of Persian Gulf is the world’s most important sea lane for carrying 30 percent of crude oil. Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
