Iran says “trans-regional enemies” are behind unrests at its borders

Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 20 By Umid Niayesh - Trend: Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said that the Islamic Republic’s trans-regional enemies are attempting to make Iranian borders insecure. However the Iran’s borders are secure despite the plans and extensive investments made by the trans-regional enemies, including the US and Israel and certain regional enemies, Jafari said, the Islamic Republic’s Tasnim news agency reported Oct. 20. The commander also said that the Iranian border regions have high level of security, particularly in the country’s southeastern areas. It is while, in recent weeks the country’s south eastern borders have witnessed several armed clashes between security forces and the rebel extremist groups, who claim they're fighting against the Iranian government, protecting Sunni residents. In most recent incident the rebels attacked on a police base near Zahedan city on Oct. 19 night. The Iranian officials said that the attack was thwarted and the rebels escaped after suffering heavy losses. Earlier in October, four Iranian security forces were killed in armed attacks in the province. The local officials said the Baluchi rebels are to blame for the incident.
