Iran taekwondokas earn colorful medals in Italy

Tehran, June 8, IRNA – Iranian taekwondo fighters Mirhashem Hosseini and Sajjad Mardani received gold and bronze medals respectively in Roma 2019 World Taekwondo Grand-Prix. The event kicked off with the attendance of 32 fighters and in 4 Olympic weight categories in Rome, Italy. Hosseini in the weight category of – 68kg defeated the US, Brazil and Croatia. In semi-final match he hit Chinese rival and advanced to the final match. After defeating South Korean fighter in the final stage, he ranked first and grabbed the gold medal. Meanwhile earlier, Mardani in the weight category of + 80 kg received a bronze medal. The first three rankings will be granted 40, 24 and 14.4 points to increase the Olympic ranking. The will also receive 5,000, 3,000 and 1,000 dollars respectively.
