Iran, UN discuss implementation of Resolution 2231

Tehran, Feb 16, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting with Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Undersecretary General for Political Affairs reviewed the implementation of the Resolution 2231. During the meeting which was held Saturday on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, both sides discussed Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX), regional and international affairs namely those related to Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon. Zarif earlier held talks with Henrietta H. Fore, Executive Director of the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF). The 55th Munich Security Conference attended by 600 international decision-makers in various fields, including politics, trade and civil society, is underway in Munich, Germany, on February 15-17 to deal with current crises and future challenges. Zarif arrived in Germany on Friday morning to participate in 2019 Munich Security Conference. In addition to delivering speech in the conference, Zarif will hold talks with political figures attending the ongoing event. Munich Security Conference is held annually in the German city of Munich since 1963 with the aim of providing political, economic, scientific and military officials from around the world with an opportunity to explore ways of maintaining peace and establishing security.
