Iran, US meeting postponed due to Kerry's tardy arrival

Tehran, March 16, IRNA – Iranian and US delegations were scheduled to meet on Sunday evening in Lausanne but because of US Secretary of State John Kerry's tardy arriveal, the meeting was postponed to Monday morning. The Iranian delegation proposed that the meeting be postponed which was accepted by the US side. The two sides are scheduled to start their meeting at 8 o'clock local time in the Swiss town of Lausanne. Iran and US started a new round of nuclear discussions in Lausanne on Sunday. Head of Iran Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) Ali Akbar Salehi and US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz attended the meeting. Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi deputies to Iranian Foreign Minister, IAEO Deputy Head Behrooz Kamalvandi, and US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman were also present in the discussions. Iran and the Group 5+1 (US, Russia, France, Britain, China, and Germany) are working to reach a comprehensive agreement on Iran's nuclear program based on the Joint Plan of Action signed in Geneva on November 24, 2013, and its 7-month extension. The current round of talks is scheduled to continue until March 20.
