Iranian artist wins World Cartoon contest 3rd prize

TEHRAN, Oct. 22 (MNA) – Yaser Khanbaray from Iran won the 3rd Prize from World Press Cartoon contest , Portugal-2014. The International World Press Cartoon contest is held each year and covers three main categories: Editorial cartoons, caricature and gag cartoon. In this year’s edition, the third prize for the caricatures section was scooped by an Iranian cartoonist, Yaser Khanbaray. Khanbaray’s caricature was of President Barak Obama. The grand prize of the World Press Cartoon 2014 went to Shankar Parmarthy from India for his caricature of Nelson Mandela and the second prize was received by Alfredo Sábat from Argentian for his caricature of Hugo Chavez. The exhibition of the selected works and the award gala will take place in the spring of 2015 at the following venue: Olga Cadaval Cultural Centre, in Sintra, Portugal.
