Iranian artists to compete in Warsaw poster biennial

TEHRAN,April 21(MNA) -- Sixteen Iranian graphic designers will be competing in the 23rd Warsaw International Poster Biennial. Works by Iraj-Mirza Alikhani, Reza Babajani, Maryam Enayati, Leila Miri, Mehdi Fatehi and Mohammad Jamshidi will be showcased in the biennial, which is scheduled to be held from June 2 until September 16. Other Iranian artists include Ehsan Mahdavi, Mehdi Mehdian, Saeid Mazinani, Mehdi Saeidi, Hamed Mehravaran, Amir Rezaii, Ladan Rezaii, Armin Amirian, Samaneh Chavoshi and Shaqayeq Fakharzadeh. Takashi Akiyama (Japan), Michal Batory (France), Anthon Beeke (Netherlands), Marta Granados (Colombia), Igor Gurowicz (Russia), Bojidar Ikonomov (Bulgaria) Piotr Kunce (Poland) and Alain Weill (France) are the jury members of the event. Winners will be announced during a ceremony in the beginning of the biennial. The idea of a periodic international review of achievements in the field of poster art was first proposed by a number of Polish graphic designers in the beginning of the sixties and the first edition was held in 1966. Since 1994, the Poster Museum at Wilanow has been the regular base of the biennale and competitive exhibition.
