Iranian Canadians reject MKO as representative

New York, July 17, IRNA – Over 99 percent of Iranian expatriates in Canada denied anti-Iran terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) as representing all Iranians in the North American nation, a recent by the ICC revealed. In the wake of the last MKO meeting held with the attendance of some former Canadian figures in Paris, the Iranian Canadian Congress held an online poll and raised three questions. Responding to the first question in reference to participation of the Canadian politicians at the MKO meeting, 98.90 percent of Iranian expatriates expressed disagreement. Commenting on the second question, 99.48 percent of Iranian-Canadian nationals said that the MKO does not represent their ideas. In its third question, the ICC referred to the decision made by Stephen Harper former prime minister of Canada in 2012 to remove the MKO from terrorist organizations’ list and 94.13 percent of the respondents described it as a false choice. Earlier, Sanam Shantyaei, Journalist at France 24, wrote in her twitter account that “Rudy Giuliani [Former Mayor of New York City ] & Newt Gingrich [Former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives ] are speaking at the #MEK rally in Paris this Saturday. This is a cult-like group with a known terrorist past & a long list of well-paid supporters, reportedly including John Bolton. According to a US official, they offer between $20k-30k for speeches.” The Iranian Canadian Congress is a non-profit, non-partisan, and non-religious organization, established in 2007, to represent the interests of Iranian Canadians and encourage their participation in Canadian society.
