Iranian carmakers manufacture 72,000 cars in month

Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec.28 By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iranian carmakers produced around 72,000 cars in the past Iranian calendar month of Azar (ending on December 21), IRNA reported on Dec. 27. Although the output rose significantly compared to the month ago, but it was lower than the figure correspondent to the same month last year. According to Iranian deputy industry minister Mohsen Salehnia, national car production has reached 520,000 since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21), which shows a 24.5 percent decline year on year. National car production is projected to hit 900,000 units by the end of the current year, he noted. However, some experts believe that attaining the goal will be impossible and others say it is dependent on some conditions. In the most optimistic case, if all the internal problems including liquidity shortage are resolved, hope is to reach a goal of 900,000 cars per year. Iran exported 5,208 sedans during the first six months of the current solar year which indicates a fall of 82.21 per cent compared to the same period of the last solar year, the website of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration reported. The value of the exported cars was around $16 million which is 91.80 per cent less than the same period last year. The average price per car was $3087 which indicates a 45.58 per cent decrease this year. Iran has exported 2991, 1313 and 301 sedan cars to Germany, Iraq and Azerbaijan respectively during the period. Follow us on Twitter @TRENDNewsAgency
