Iranian Film Festival opens in Tbilisi

Baku, Dec 18, IRNA – Inaugural ceremony of Iranian Film Festival was held in Tbilisi State University late on Tuesday. On the first day of the festival, the film ‘Azar, Shahdokht, Parviz and Others’ was screened with English subtitle, which was welcomed by the audience. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Iran’s Ambassador to Georgia Seyyed Javad Qavam-Shahidi and Cultural Attache Hamid Mostafavi and Chacellor of Tbilisi State University George Sharvashidze as well as a number of students attended the ceremony. The film ‘Apandis’ was also screened with Georgian subtitle today during the inaugural ceremony. Iran’s cultural attaché also hailed regular holding of Iranian films festival in cooperation with Tbilisi State University, saying that this reveals dynamic communications between the organizers of the festival and audience in getting access to a common language. Mostafavi further noted that Iran and Georgia boast of rich culture and history and this is not limited to the past honors, as the artists are still discovering new cultural fields. Sharvashidze aslo hailed cooperation between Iran’s Embassy and the university, saying that the collaboration is not restricted to scientific activities and Iranian studies; rather they are engaged in holding artistic exhibitions and film festivals. 8072**2050 Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
