Iranian films line up for Romanian festival

TEHRAN,Nov.4(MNA) -- Four Iranian movies will go on screen at the ALTER-NATIVE International Short Film Festival, which will be held in Tirgu-Mures, Romania from November 6 to 10. “The Theft” directed by Mohammad Farahani, and animated films “The Kitten” by Shiva Sadeq-Asadi, “Kermando” by Hamed Akrami and “White Pigeon Next to the Mirror” by Maryam Khalilzadeh will be competing at the event. “The Theft” is a six-minute silent film, which is about an old woman who is accused of theft. “The Kitten” tells the story of a little girl whose parents are not very receptive to her because they are constantly involved with their own problems. One day, she discovers that a cat has given birth to three kittens in their yard. Immersing herself in the lives of the cats, she dreams of becoming a kitten herself. “Kermando” is about a worm that stands up to two chickens who brutally massacre a population of worms to prove their powers to each other. “White Pigeon Next to the Mirror” narrates the story of a little girl who, after waking up one morning, sees a white pigeon outside the window of her room. She tries to catch the pigeon, but it flies away, leaving a white feather. The girl takes the feather and follows the pigeon wherever it goes. However, she only can find some of the pigeon’s colorful feathers. Disappointed, she returns home where she finally finds the pigeon. Established in 1993, the festival is one of the oldest film festivals in Romania, which aims to support and promote regional cinematography and fresh filmmaking talent.
