Iranian music ensemble bags medals in Spain

TEHRAN, Nov. 16 (MNA) – The choir Avaye Mahan, headed by Nima Fatehi, won two medals at Canta al mar choir competition, a well-known Spanish festival held in October. Nima Fatehi said that the group had many difficulties in receiving visas from Spain’s Embassy in Iran and "we would have even missed the event if the Culture Ministry wouldn’t have followed our case up." However we missed the festival’s opening ceremony but we reached on the first night of the festival, he added. Avaye Mahan had a performance in the festival’s ‘Friendship Concerts’ section, which was warmly received, and the ‘Chamber Choir’ part. The Iranian choir received a bronze and silver medal in the ‘Friendship Concerts’ and ‘Chamber Choir’ respectively. Canta al mar Festival is one of the most famous European music events and a meeting place for choirs from all over the world annually. ‘Avaye Mahan’, is also planning to stage a special concert at Tehran's Eivan-e Shams Hall. The concert will include old songs of the world’s best musicians which will be performed in English by a classic pop choir. The group was crowned best vocal ensemble in the Western classical music section at the 30th Fajr International Music Festival, which was held in Tehran and several other Iranian cities in February. http://en.mehrnews.com/news/111991/Iranian-music-ensemble-bags-medals-in-Spain
