Iranian poet receives Haiku Grand Prize 2014

TEHRAN, Dec.1 (MNA) – Announcing the official results of the International Haiku Contest, Basho Memorial Museum in Japan granted Certificate of Merit and Matsuo Basho symbol to Mohammad Farsani for writing a haiku on peace. Mohammad Farsani’s haiku was selected as the best among 1261 haikus received from all over the world and introduced as the best haiku of 2014. In this round of competitions, Japan, the US, and Romania with 524, 132, and 80 haikus respectively were the countries with the highest number of participants. In the first stage of the competition, Mohammad Farsani’s haiku, along with 22 haikus could reach finals and eventually was unanimously awarded the first prize due to its beautiful form and content. It contains a message of peace and friendship to the people of Japan and the whole world. Basho Memorial Museum published a book with a report about the various stages of the competition on the same occasion.
