Iranian short films to compete in Starz Denver festival

TEHRAN,Oct.28(MNA) -- Three short films by Iranian director will be competing in the 36th Starz Denver Film Festival, which will be held in the central U.S. city from November 6 to 17. “Lady with Flower-Hair” by Sarah Tabibzadeh, “Thank God” by Jamshid Qodrati, and “Pencil” by Reza Saafi will be screened in the short film competition section. “Lady with Flower-Hair” is an animated tale of a woman who shows that it is not easy having flowers growing out of one’s head. This film will also be screened in the Women + Film section. “Thank God” is a clever, unassuming visual narration of the life cycle of shoes and “Pencil” is about a boy who looks for his own pencil on the first day of school. About 200 films from across the world are scheduled to be screened at the festival, which will present programs including film industry panels, workshops, achievement awards and tributes. Saafi will also participate in the 13th Silver Wave Film Festival, which will be held in Fredericton, Canada from November 7 to 10, with his “Point of View”. The film takes a look at the different seasons of human life through colors. The festival will show 91 films, 56 of which were made by New Brunswick filmmakers.
