Iran's Artists House to display Kari Piippo's works

Tehran, Nov 12, IRNA – Iran’s Artists House plans to hold a commemoration for late Iranian graphic designer Morteza Momayez in which works of Finnish artist Kari Piippo will be showcased. Just as the norm in previous years, the ceremony will also host speeches. The artists center will also display sketches of Momayez as well as the works and selected posters of another noted Iranian artist Ebrahim Haghighi. The commemoration slated for Nov. 28 will run until Dec. 4. Momayez was born in 1936. He received his bachelor’s degree from Tehran University, Faculty of Fine Arts, in 1965. Later he left for France and continued his higher studies majoring in interior design and architecture. Upon graduation, he switched his career as an illustrator and graphic designer. Throughout his career, he founded many cultural institutes, exhibitions and graphic design publications. He also received an award from the Iranian president in 2004. The renowned figure died on November 25, 2005, having battled prostate cancer for ten years, and was buried in Dehkordan Cemetery, in a village near Karaj.
