Iran's envoy, Lebanese leaders discuss issues of mutual interest

Beirut, Dec 22, IRNA - Iran's ambassador in Beirut met on Friday Walid Jumblatt, a Lebanese distinguished political figure and president of the Progressive Socialist Party. The meeting between Mohammad Jalal Firouznia and Walid Jumblatt took place in Jumblatt's house, in which the two sides discussed regional issues including the ongoing situation in Lebanon. Former Lebanese intelligence minister who is also among Druze political figures as well as two other members of the Progressive Socialist Party attended the meeting. Following Shiite, Sunnis and Christians, Druze is a main faith in Lebanon. Jumblatt is the most important political figure in Lebanon's Druze faith. He is known for his moderate approach and changes in his political stance. Since being appointed as Iran's ambassador in Beirut a few months ago, Firouznia has held meetings with several Lebanese political and religious figures.
