Iran's Experience In Census, Data Gathering To Be Put at disposal Of Other Countries - UNFPA

Mashhad, Razavi Khorassan Prov., Dec 19, IRNA – Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) project Kambiz Kabiri said on Tuesday that Iranian experience in census and data gathering would be transferred to other countries. Addressing the Third Seminar on General Census of Population and Housing for the year 1390, held at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, he said that the UNFPA has levelled off upport for Iran Statistics Center for conducting the census due to its technical and vocational potentials to carry out the project. He said that experience of the Islamic Republic of Iran would be useful for other nations in carrying out such projects. He noted that the main goal of the UNFPA is helping governments build up the capacity for gathering statistical data needed for planning in different fields. He noted that compared to other countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran has a special position in terms of developing statistical science. The UNFPA has invited the statistics officials of 10 members of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to attend the seminar to keep abreast with conducting census and use Iranian experience for their own./end
