Iran's humanitarian aid for Yemen to be delivered in Djibouti: Official

Tehran, May 22, IRNA – Iranian cargo vessel (Nejat) carrying humanitarian aid for impoverished Yemenis will anchor in Djibouti on Saturday, said head of Red Crescent Society's Relief and Rescue Organization. Talking to IRNA, Nasser Charkhsaz added that the second cargo vessel is currently getting loaded to sail for the county within ten days. The vessel will carry 12,000 tons of foodstuff donated by the Iranian nation for the oppressed Yemeni nation. The official has earlier announced that 'Nejat' will leave for Djibouti based on coordination made with Foreign Ministry and Red Crescent Society's International Committee. Vessel containing 2.5 tons relief aid by Iran to the Yemeni nation started sailing on May 11 towards Al-Hodaideh Port in the Red Sea and will reach Djibouti tomorrow. The vessel is accompanied by three anti-war activists from Europe and the US as well as 15 reporters. Riyadh launched its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 - without a UN mandate - in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement, which currently controls the capital, Sana’a, and other major provinces, and also to restore power to Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Riyadh. Since March 19, the United Nations says, over 1,800 people have been killed and 7,330 injured due to the conflict in Yemen.
