Iran`s Reza Mirkarimi to make “Today”

TEHRAN,Aug.26(MNA) -- “So Close, So Far” director, Reza Mirkaraimi, planned to make a new film which he has entitled “Today”. The film tells the story of Yunes, a veteran taxi driver who helps a young woman and takes her to a hospital, but he is burdened with many problems. Mirkaraimi and Shadmehr Rastin have jointly written the screenplay for the film, whose shooting will begin on Tuesday. Parviz Parastuii, Shabnam Moqaddami and Soheila Golestani are the main members of the cast. Mirkarimi’s previous drama “A Cube of Sugar” was Iran’s submission for the Annual Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Films category in 2013. However, Iran boycotted the Oscars over the production of an anti-Islam video in the United States, causing the film to miss the event. Abbas Kiarostami designed posters for the film, which was acclaimed by critics and filmgoers. Mirkaraimi “So Close, So Far” represented the Iranian cinema at the Oscars in 2006.
