Iran's 'Track 143' to be screened in Russia

TEHRAN, Nov. 03 (MNA) – Celebrated Iranian war drama Track 143, directed by Narges Abyar, will be screened at Moscow’s Charity Film Festival. The flick is a screen adaptation of Abyar's novel The Third Eye that narrates the story of a woman during Iran's Sacred Defense (1980-88 Iraqi-imposed war on Iran). The movie tells the story of a mother waiting for her son who has been missing in Pre-operation Valfajr during the war. She looks forward to her son's return for many years until she finally receives his bones brought to her in a coffin instead. The film has attended several international festivals and garnered a number of awards as well; Special Jury Award for Best Actress at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival in Australia, the Audience Award for Best Film at annual Reel Sydney Festival of World Cinema, Best Director Award and the Best Actress Award in the 8th International East-West Film Festival in Orenburg, Russia. The film was also widely acclaimed at the 32nd Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran in February 2014. It received both the Crystal Phoenix for Audience Favorite Film at the Fajr festival and the event’s Best Actress Award that was presented to the film’s leading role actress Merila Zarei. The Russian festival launched on Friday in Moscow and will conclude on November 9.
