Iraq , Turkey Stress The Need For Joint Action Against Terrorism

BAGHDAD / NINA/ Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq discussed, at his office in Baghdad, with the Turkish ambassador in Iraq Farouk Qimagja, security and economic cooperation between the two countries. A statement for Mutlaq's office said, "The two sides discussed, during the meeting, ways to develop the strategic relations between the two countries, opening new horizons of cooperation, economic and security service between Baghdad and Ankara" The two sides, according to the statement, referred to "magnitude of the challenges, and the common pitfalls of terrorist organizations, and its repercussions on the region," stressing "the need to intensify efforts and work jointly to reduce the threat to the region as a whole." For his part, the Turkish ambassador stressed his country's keenness on the unity and territorial integrity of Iraq, stood by the Iraqi people in its war against terrorism in all its forms. / End
