Iraqi House Speaker Signs Cooperation Agreement With The United Nations

BAGHDAD / NINA / Iraqi House Speaker Salim al-Jubouri signed the first cooperation agreement between the Iraqi Parliament and the United Nations for the purpose of development of legislative and supervisory action. A statement by Jubouri office said that "al-Jubouri met with a delegation from the UN Development Program, headed by Adam Abdel Mawla and the Swedish ambassador to Iraq, Jürgen Ndstrm and signed convention on the joint work between the Iraqi parliament and the UN Development Program, including the development of the legislative and supervisory action of the Council, and the use of the owners' experience in this area of both parties, in addition to open an office inside the parliament cares about the implementation of the terms of the agreement and continue its functioning and its results ". The statement added, "The two sides discussed, during the meeting, ways of joint cooperation between the Iraqi Parliament and the United Nations for the purpose of preparing a strategy based on the law and good governance and transparency." For his part, al-Jubouri appreciated the UN's role in Iraq, stressing the importance of building state institutions within the legal framework and rely on competent human resources. / end
