Iraqi Journalists Can Enjoy Academic Studies In Iran : IRNA Chief

Tehran, Feb 7, IRNA – Managing director of Islamic Republic News Agency said on Tuesday that School of Media Studies affiliated to IRNA is ready to grant admission to Iraqi students. Majid Omidi Shahraki made the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi ambassador to Tehran, Mohammad Majid al-Sheikh “If Iraqi state news agency is determined to enhance news cooperation and establish liaison office in Iran, we are ready to cooperate with it,” he said. Ambassador Majid al-Sheikh, for his part, congratulated Shahraki on his appointment to the post. He said that officials of the two countries are determined to further expand bilateral ties and “we are witnessing development of mutual relations in all areas.” He added that currently there are more than 60 satellite channels operating in Iraq, saying the neighboring countries including some Arab countries are angry with existence of such freedom in Iraq. The ambassador recalled high turnout of Iranian people in last year’s rallies to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of the victory of Islamic revolution and said foreign news agencies hoped that the Iranian people would not participate in the rallies, but they dashed their hope with their presence. Meanwhile, the Iraqi ambassador toured different parts of IRNA./end
