IRNA, APP sign MoU to expand cooperation

Tehran, IRNA –The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand news cooperation. The MoU was signed on the concluding day of the Iran-Pakistan 21st Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting in Islamabad. Ambassador of the Islamic Republic Mohammad Ali Hosseini signed the MoU on behalf of the managing director of IRNA while MD APP Munir Akhtar signed the MoU from the Pakistani side. Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi and Pakistan's Commerce Minister Naveed Qamar were also present at the ceremony. The MoU which consists of 12 articles is valid for a period of one year and shall automatically be renewed for a similar period. “The Parties agree to provide to each other their news, photos, and video services in English via the internet, free of cost which hereinafter be referred to as the 'services', for circulation among their subscribers and for display on websites,” said the MoU. It added the parties agree to facilitate periodical reciprocal visits of their professional staff to share and exchange each other’s experiences. It further said the parties shall recommend to their respective governments to provide necessary facilities for technical and executive co-operation to their bureau chiefs and staff in their respective countries on a reciprocal basis. “The parties may hold short-term and mid-term training courses on reciprocal basis. The details of expenses of the said training courses shall be mutually determined through a mutually agreed instrument,” said the MoU. Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
