IRNA chief holds meeting with members of Azeri Press Council

Baku, Nov 19, IRNA – Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Mohammad Khoddadi has held talks here with members of Azeri Press Council and a number of media directors in that country. Iran's Ambassador to Baku Javad Jahangirzadeh and Chairman of the Azeri Press Council Aflatun Amashov were present in the meeting. Khoddadi, who is in Baku to attend the 16th General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), stressed the importance of making efforts to strengthen the media cooperation between the two countries. Media, IRNA chief said, have been playing an effective role in different parts of the society. Amashov, for his part, said that media interactions between the two countries should be developed as there are good capacities for achieving that end. During the meeting, the Azeri Press Council presented a diploma of honor to IRNA chief for his efforts to improve ties between the two countries' media. IRNA has been re-elected as a member of the Executive Board of OANA. 1378/IRNA
