IRNA, Lebanese national news agency to broaden cooperation

Tehran, Jan 13, IRNA – Managing Director of the Islamic News Agency Mohammad Khoddadi conferred with Managing Director of Lebanese national news agency (NNA) Lour Suleiman Tuesday on ways to develop professional cooperation. Lebanese Ambassador to Tehran Fadi Haj Al Was was also present in the meeting. The two officials highlighted the deep-rooted cultural affinities and fridnship between the two nations. They exchanged views on domestic issues along with regional developments and study establishment of direct contacts. The two state-run news agencies can broaden their scope of cooperation through exchange of more news and analysis at political, economic and cultural levels. The unreal image depicted by international media on the current developments should be amended, the western media display the same unreal image from Iran as well, Khoddadi said. They merely focus of crisis and conflicts and ignore the two nations economic development and success, he said. Close cooperation between the two news agencies would be helpful to give a real image to the outside world, Khoddadi said. NNA managing director, for her part, expressed satisfaction over her visit to Iran and said exchange of views and experience between the media of the two countries will help deepen mutual understanding between the two nations. NNA was established in 1961 and has over 500 reporters and staff in Lebanon and some foreign countries, she said. NNA issues news in Arabic, French and English languages, she said. The Lebanese delegation inspected various parts of IRNA and became acquainted with the activities of the organization. During her five-day stay in Iran, she is to confer with Minister of Culture and the Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati and Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham on expansion of cooperation between the two countries. She will pay a visit to historical city of Isfahan.
