Iskenderun Port to play an important role in development of Turkey

HATAY (A.A) - Iskenderun Port will play an important role in development of Turkey, said head of a Turkish company. Nihat Ozdemir, chairman of executive board of Turkey's Limak Holding, recalled that Limak Holding took over the operating rights of Iskenderun Port for next 36 years, stating that modernization was under way in the port. Iskenderun Port was a gate of Turkey to the Middle East, he said. "We aim to make Iskenderun Port the biggest container port not only for Turkey but also the Middle East. We will make an investment of nearly 500 million U.S. dollars in the port," he said. The port would be of great importance in trade with several countries including Syria, Iraq and Iran, he said.
