Italian AGI Agency publishes interview with AZERTAC Director General

Rome, March 6 AZERTAC Italian AGI Agency has highlighted the Baku-meeting of the News Agencies World Council (NACO) and a ceremony to mark the 95th anniversary of Azerbaijan State Information Agency AZERTAC. The material also featured an interview with Director General of Azerbaijan State Information Agency AZERTAC Aslan Aslanov. The article said AZERTAC will host the 5th News Agencies World Congress in Baku in 2016, and chair the organization from 2016-2019. It said the jubilee ceremony was attended by heads of the world`s leading news agencies and international and regional media organizations. In his interview, Mr Aslanov hailed Azerbaijan`s development, saying the country was a land of tolerance. He said Azerbaijan strives to be a model of peace and stability. “The first parliamentary republic in the Muslim East, first opera was established in Azerbaijan. And 95 years ago Azerbaijan`s first news agency, AZERTAC, was founded.” “For 70 years, when Azerbaijan was part of the USSR, nobody in the world ever heard of our agency. But today AZERTAC is exchanging news with nearly 130 countries around the globe.” The article also featured remarks by Azerbaijani President`s Assistant for Public and Political Affairs Ali Hasanov. Mr Hasanov highlighted the role and importance of the media.
