Italian book fair opens at Tehran’s Book City Institute

TEHRAN,Oct.15(MNA) – An exhibition of Italian books opened at Tehran’s Book City Institute on Sunday. Italian Cultural Attaché Carlo Cereti, Professor Carlo Saccone of the University of Bologna, Professor Ettore Bruni of the University of Tehran, and the deputy director of the institute Ali-Asghar Mohammadkhani attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition. Speaking at the ceremony, Mohammadkhani said that Iran and Italy enjoy classical literature, and that book readers in both countries are familiar with each other’s authors and books. “However, the readers of each of the two countries know little about the contemporary literary works of the other. Thus, the exhibition provides an opportunity for us to become familiar with a number of works in Italian contemporary literature,” he added. Saccone read a sonnet by the Persian poet Hafez in Persian and Italian for the audience. Cereti also called the weeklong exhibition an opportunity for the Italian Cultural Attaché’s Office to introduce the Italian language and culture to Iranians. The institute is located on Shariati St. near Mo’allam intersection on the corner of Kalateh Valley.
