ITU chief hails Azerbaijan`s role

Baku, January 8 (AzerTAc). Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Hamadoun Toure has praised Azerbaijan`s activity in the organization. Speaking to journalists, Toure said Azerbaijan was one of the exemplary countries in terms of development of the communication and information technologies sector. He emphasized the fact Azerbaijan ranked among top ten countries in the Global ICT Indicators report. The Secretary General stressed the importance of Azerbaijan`s joining ITU`s African countries assistance campaign. Toure has been Secretary-General of the ITU since January 2007. He was re-elected for a second term in October 2010.
