Jackie Chan's Son Faces Prosecution For Drug Use

BEIJING, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- Jaycee Chan, Chinese martial arts movie legend Jackie Chan's son, was formally charged by the People's Procuratorate of Beijing's Dongcheng District on Monday for providing a shelter for others to use drugs. The People's Procuratorate of Beijing's Dongcheng District made the brief announcement on its official China's Twitter-like account Monday, three months after the 32-year-old Jaycee was arrested from his residence in Beijing. Jaycee and his Taiwanese friend Ko Chen-tung, who is also a movie star, were detained by the police on Aug 14 after allegedly testing positive for marijuana (ganja), where the police also seized more than 100 grams of marijuana from Jaycee's home. Ko was released after 14 days of administrative detention. It was reported that Jaycee could be jailed for up to three years if found guilty of providing shelter for others to use drugs. Ironically, the 60-year-old Jackie Chan had served as China's anti-drug ambassador in 2009. The father of the 32-year-old actor on Aug 20 said he was ashamed over the incident and had offered a deep bow to the public for his son's arrest. -- BERNAMA
