Jakarta To Host New Cities Summit In June 2015

Jakarta, Nov 6 (Antara) - Jakarta will play host to the New Cities Summit 2015 themed "Seizing the Urban Moment: Cities at the Heart of Growth and Development" on June 9-11. The fourth edition of the New Cities Summit will be organized by the New Cities Foundation and the City of Jakarta, according to a statement issued by PR NewsWire here on Thursday. "We are excited to be coming to Asia for our next big global conversation on cities. This is truly Jakarta`s moment and Indonesia`s moment," John Rossant, the founder and chairman of the New Cities Foundation, noted in a press statement. "We proudly invite all New Cities Summit delegates to meet in Jakarta in 2015. The people of Jakarta and I look forward to welcoming you in 2015," remarked Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, the acting governor of Jakarta. The next three decades will bear witness to the largest increase in the world`s urban population in human history. By mid-century, 6.5 billion people will reside in cities, up from 4 billion today. This unprecedented demographic shift is leading to a surge in investments in urban services and infrastructure on a scale never seen before.
